Villa Björnviken - Your visit can leave a mark, a good mark

Enjoy nature

There are many animals living in Björnviken. Although we are located in a cove with summer cottages, the birdlife is lively, and it is possible to see deer and even moose in the yard if you are really lucky. Give the animals peace, but enjoy watching them, and if you own a camera, you should definitely try nature photography!

Around the area

The Björnviken estate covers just under 2 hectares, and you are welcome to move freely around the area. And in Finland, the right of public access to nature is still in effect, which allows everyone—including foreigners—to move around and stay in nature regardless of land ownership. You are allowed to:
Move on foot, cross-country ski, cycle, and ride in nature (in forests, swamps, and natural meadows).

Stay and spend the night temporarily in areas where movement is allowed.

Pick wild berries, mushrooms, and unprotected plants.

Boating, swimming, and walking on ice.

Fish and ice fish without a permit.

Use a camping stove (no open fire without a permit).

Accomodation

The main building dates back to the 1960s but was renovated to its current form in 2025. In our opinion, old buildings are worth preserving and repairing, rather than always building new ones. Our sleeping cabin and sauna are new buildings from 2025, but they are made of Nordic wood, wonderfully fragrant and breathable wood.

Recycle

At Björnviken, recycling is part of a responsible visit. You will find recycling bins for organic waste, plastic, glass, and metal. By recycling, you save natural resources and help keep the archipelago clean.

Thank you for sorting your waste!

Use of resources

At Björnviken, the washing water comes from reverse osmosis, meaning it is purified seawater. For this reason, the amount and pressure of the water are not the same as in, for example, the city. We have noticed that even if you reduce water consumption, the quality of life does not suffer.

Localilty

Authentic Finnish aesthetics in the archipelago. At Björnviken, the tranquility of nature meets the beauty of Finnish design. Here, every detail tells a story – handmade ceramics, domestic or genuine textiles made from natural materials, and carefully selected materials are at the heart of our interior design. In our interiors, we use wood, wool, clay, and recycled elements – naturally and sustainably. We offer the opportunity to get to know designers and artists from Loviisa and Finland, whose products are showcased and used in our spaces.
